Our Arthurian themed evening was very well attended with our guest speakers, storyteller supreme ANDY HARROP-SMITH and archaeologist, film-maker, author and general all-round good-guy MARK OLLY sharing their knowledge and passion for this most fascinating of historical and mythical figures. Andy`s rendition of the tale of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight was received with great enthusiasm and audience participation. Following a cake-fuelled interval it was the turn of Mark Olly to share elements of a life-times research and his theories into the history of the once and future king. It soon became obvious that the myths and legends of Arthur are indelibly linked to geographical locations very close to home in more ways than one. The sheer number of archaeological sites in North Wales and Cheshire alone that Mark made reference to was impressive and all have some link, directly or indirectly, with this story. No excuses now, we have to visit them!!!
