The positions of Chairman, Secretary Bookkeeper are both prepared to continue serving unless we have other volunteers. Our Life President is happy to remain.

  1. Chairman: To Chair meetings and be the face of the society at any formal gathering. The Chairman will also write an annual report for the members to be delivered at the AGM. The Chairman will generate and create the material for the quarterly newsletter and website. Chris Jones (2024, prepared to re-stand)
  2. Secretary and Bookkeeper: Maintain and keep all society records. Keep basic accounts using Excel spreadsheets and work alongside the Legal Officer and Treasurer to make sure that the Treasurer has all the records at their disposal for audit. The Secretary will edit the quarterly newsletter and assist the chairman with the editing of the website. Philomena Hearn (2024, prepared to re-stand)
  3. Treasurer: check over the bookkeepers work as an internal auditor and present the end of year accounts to the AGM. Sharon Edwards (2024)
  4. President: an honorary position for a revered person of influence and skill relevant to the organisations aims and objectives. Fiona Gale

•             Volunteer Role Descriptions:

  1. Legal and safety Officer:  Oversees quarterly account reports from Bookkeeper and present the organisation’s annual accounts after audit. Responsible for checking all insurance cover and all Health and Safety procedures, plus any other processes and procedures are in place such as safeguarding and CBS compliance etc. Sharon Edwards (2024)

Speakers and presentation Coach: To encourage, inspire confidence and coach members to become skilled public speakers. Andy Harrop-Smith (2024 and 2025)

  • Archaeological Consultants: Qualified to degree level, professional and experienced Archaeologists who will advise and educate the members and support the Field Team in the Society’s Archaeological digs and other related activities. Fiona Gale and Philippa Jones (2024 and 2025)
  • Disability Officer: To liaise closely with Health and Safety for potential accessibility issues.  Sharon Edwards with support from Christine Wilson (2024 and 2025)
  • Press Officer: to send regular press releases to local media/newspapers. Gill Henry (2024)…. Need a volunteer
  • Webmaster: At present is a paid roll – and is ACS Technology/John Growcott.
  • Fund Raiser: To look at ways and means of raising funds (separate from grants) eg cake stalls, events, sales etc.. Money raising initiatives eg easy funding etc NEW POST….. Need a volunteer
